Laurel

I recently got this rubber plant delivered to me, and I am not sure what these white splotches are. They don’t seem to be on the newer leaves. I have wiped down the leaves and it won't come off. Otherwise the plant looks healthy. I've inspected for insects but found nothing. I am worried this is something that will spread! Help!

It’s calcium carbonate buildup on the leaves, it happens when water gets on the leaves. My rubber tree has calcium carbonate buildup on its leaves, but calcium carbonate doesn’t seem to affect it.

I thought rubber plants love a good mist? Should we be misting with filtered water? Or distilled even?

You could wipe it off gently if you don’t like the look of it, but it doesn’t hurt the plant:) it’s just from hard water (calcium build up, like others said)

That looks like a pot from easyplant. I recommend staying away. Just had to toss 4 that had spider mites
