Im looking for advice on my snake plant. I took it from my grandparents house when they moved so it is years and years old. I figured it would be totally fine in my care since it had been in their house so long. There, it sat right in front of a window with direct light. I keep in in front of my window but it doesn’t get quite as much light as it used to. About 10 months later, many of the leaves are getting yellower. I really don’t want to deal with repotting because I’m very much a beginner. Any advice? (The second photo is today)

I’ve tried porch plants before and end up forgetting they exist

How often do you water it?

      Maybe every 2-3 weeks?

Ok so two problems 1. It may have too much direct sunlight a day 2. Too much watering you should water it every 3-4 weeks

The sun would surprise me because it used to sit right in a west facing window. This window faces south. Could it be not enough sun?

I’m so sorry your snake plant looks this poorly, especially since it’s a family heirloom. I was trying to find the size of your plants pot, but noticed you hadn’t filled out the information that Planta needs to set up watering requirements; it’s always a good idea to keep your plant info up-to-date. FYI, many of us don’t follow Planta’s suggestions on a regular basis, because everybody’s set ups are different… you know, humidity, sunlight, soil, etc. IMO, it looks like your snake plant is probably overwatered. I have a large snake plant in a 7 inch pot, and it only gets watered around every 50 days or so. Be sure to use a wooden STAKE to measure your plants soil dryness. If you need help with that, just ask, and you’ll get lots of help. Best of luck!

I'm with Linda on the previous comment. Too much water. I have let mine go weeks and weeks without watering. I like to get good and dry and then give them a good drench. Those leaves will never recover. You might as well. Just cut them off.

Maybe it has a lot of water you should add monthly

Too much water. They’re succulents technically so they don’t need it very often.
