Anyone know why aloe plants drop their leaves? I received an aloe plant from my uncle that had 7 different plants in a single pot so I repotted them all individually. Ever since, one of them completely came out of the dirt and seemed like it just rotted away from the roots, while the others just keep dropping shoots left and right. Itā€™s almost like they are rotting at the base and falling off but Iā€™m not sure why this is happeningā€¦ any ideas on how I can correct this? The photo is just one of them, I am down to only 2 as I have given the others away. This one dropped 2 yesterday but from my experience, that means more are comingā€¦. My best guess is root rot but I have been ensuring the dirt is completely dry between watering as Iā€™ve killed aloe with root rot before. Clearly Iā€™m not the best with aloeā€¦. šŸ˜…

    If they're freshly potted and it's the bottom leaves I wouldn't worry too much. That happens sometimes but definitely let it dry out.

      Iā€™ve been hoping it was just a little shock from separating and repotting but losing the entire plant from one had me concernedā€¦ I will keep neglecting them a little just in case it was root rot

    The frustrating thing about aloe is that they do this when they are both overwatered and under watered, but that said, itā€™s MUCH more difficult to kill them from under watering than it is from overwatering so I think the neglect plan is probably the best option at the moment, however if you are -really- worried about root rot, you -can- do another full transplant, trimming any dead roots before completely repotting in drier soil.

    Make sure itā€™s in a really bright spot. And I make sure that the pot is warm from the inside the day sun as well. Just keep doing what youā€™re doing. Making sure itā€™s dry. Sometime the transplant shock is a lot. Also make sure the post size isnā€™t too big compared to what you had before. Also donā€™t feel bad if they die. Our houseplants arenā€™t like the ones outside. A lot of ā€œweakā€ seedlings survive where they wouldnā€™t outside. So theyā€™re more fragile to stress and all that junk.
