Have you looked at the roots? It looks more like a fungus from too much water.

It’s not root rot. Remove the fan off this plant these plant like humidity because it’s a tropical plant, however it does not need high humidity. The stems are fine I have a few on my ZZ however I would suggest check your watering also it can be overwatering as well as underwatering, insufficient lighting or nutrient deficiency. If you’re unsure on watering get a soil moisture meter then water your plant when it’s between 2and4 which is the moist level. I have both of mine in self watering pots to allow the plant to drink when it wants. The potato looking things are rhizomes which store water…

Yes, clean all the dirt off as best as you can you can even wash them under low pressure water. Clean off any roots that are brown and mushy. Spray it with 3% Hydrogen peroxide and let it sit while you clean its container and put fresh soil in.

If you closely you can see the couple on mine, you can get up close and prune it off in which I did. This is when I first got mine, I was overwatering and fertilizing at first😂now I completely ignore my ZZ plants until the self watering pot is empty

Spray your leaves off with your kitchen nozzle then spray down with neem oil really good to protect and shine your leaves to get rid of that powdery substance so your leaves can get photosynthesis.. keep foliage dust free for optimal growth

Don’t repot yet!!! ZZ plants love to be in tight spaces, I do not plan on repotting mine until they are bulging out the pot almost. But I always use miracle gro with perlite mix when I repot. However, when I do decide to repot I’m gonna order the special potting soil for the ZZ plant off of Amazon
