My dragonâs breath alocasia pushed out a gorgeous new leaf which, within the first week of being fully unfurled, has this hole in it đ I would appreciate any help identifying the cause so I can start treating it! TIA!!

I think itâs just some mechanical damage but Iâd give it a good look over for pests just in case.
4 LikesThank you!! Pest check only revealed a problem I was already aware of: fungus gnats. Going to start treating with mosquito bits tomorrowđ€đ»
1 LikeSpider mites usually leave holes like this. Theyâre tiny and look like dirt particles under the leaves. Youâll probably notice the small webbing before the actual mites. Iâd check for them and treat with a neem oil + dr bronners solution.

I second Ji11âs suggestion. If you do a preventative treatment with Dr Bronners peppermint soap and water, if there are pests then youâll get ahead of an infestation.
2 Likessometimes these little abnormalities can be a result of improper drainage - iâve seen that with my silver sword philo
