I HAVE THRIPS. Help!! New plantie and one of my babies has thrips. I have isolated it and another I’m suspicious of in my spare bathroom with a grow light, showered, sprayed with a plant soap, and watered with a pesticide (unable to get systemic granules in Canada). How long should I continue to treat for and keep in isolation? I have a lot of plants.. Should I just cut my losses? I would hate it if they spread and terrified they already could have as there was mature adults on the Scindapuss.. Any advice appreciated.

    You’re going to have to get something strong, like neem. They burrow into the plant so you need to make the plant poisonous to them.. they are definitely hard to get rid of but not impossible. Just keep hitting them with whatever you choose every week for multiple weeks.

    I thought I could just squish them from the inside by pressing on the leaves with my fingers to kill them from the inside and it worked. Yeah the plant will look ugly for a couple days but they heal just like animals.

    I stumbled upon a sprayed recipe that has oil, water, a little bit of dish soap and hot pepper in it. The oil helps the spray to stick to the bugs and the dish soap and the hot pepper kill them. So far it's working for me. I used cayenne pepper. BTW I live 20 min from Edmonton.
