Looking for some snake plant advice. I’ve had this plant for a few years and recently moved to a new house and it’s not doing so great. It’s become very floppy with wrinkly/ribbed leaves. The base of the leaves have become “C” shaped and very ridged and hard. I tired to diagnose the plant via the app and it said it was over watered, which I have hard time believing. I hadn’t been watering it often. My instinct is that it wasn’t getting enough sun and that it was under watered. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would put it somewhere with more sun and see if that works

Many plants will start drooping if they are under watered! Most will perk up within a matter of hours after watered though so I’m sure you would notice if that was it. They are very hardy plants and don’t need a ton of sunlight to survive, so, unless it’s very far from a window, I doubt that’s the issue. Could also be temperature differences in your new place or even new minerals in your water that are upsetting it!

When was the last time you fertilized this plant? My whale fin snake plant recently start getting C shaped and start folding inward, I watered it with fertilizer mixed in and it opened back out within a day or so. She may need some nutrients.

We put in a fertilizer stick a little over two weeks ago.

I agree with everything suggested. I would just add that with my snake plants, and I have many, they need to dry out completely and then get drenched. (With mine, I water them at least a week after they are completely dry.) Draw out extra moisture by setting your pot on a stack of papertowels for a bit after watering. You should only be watering once a month at the most. Fertilizer is very important but don’t over feed. They can thrive in low light or bright indirect light. Lighting isn’t critical for snake plants. Yours look overwatered or under nourished to me. Your snake plants should never need a cage to hold them up. The change of water is a valid point. I use filtered water from Britta pitchers. I buy my pitchers from second hand stores and the filters are pretty reasonable on Amazon if you get the multipacks. You can also use filtered water from the fridge but I warm it so it’s tepid. (I don’t like cold showers. 🙄)

Thanks for the great advice!!! I totally agree it shouldn’t need a cage. I placed the cage because it was falling onto our other plants. I’m going to try the filtered water, I know that was a change from our last location and might be effecting all our plants.
