They might be scales
0 Mi piaceBlack aphids. Aphids come in several colors and always appear on the newest tender shoots. I’m currently fighting off orange ones on my hoya Bella (outside) and green ones on my hoya Iris Marie (indoors). Spray from a garden hose can usually knock them off. I’ve used insecticidal soap spray to remove them. They attract ants that farm them like milk cows. The aphids drink the sap from the leaves and secrete a sticky liquid on the leaves that the ants use as food. The ants move them around to new feeding spots like cattle. You have to treat the base of the tree to block ants, if you see them around the aphids. 🍀🪴
3 Mi piaceLovely thank you, I have seen ants on the tree so I will go ahead and treat the base of the tree, I did think it was ant related just didn’t know the best way to deal with them
1 mi piaceI thought scales at first but after zooming in and seeing the little legs I agree with Sunny - these are aphids.
