I just found mealybugs and scale on my Hoya Australis. This is my first time dealing with these suckers. I removed them with a q tip and alcohol and cleaned each individual leave. What else can I do ? How long do I need to isolate? Is neem oil effective for mealies and scale? Does diatomaceous earth work for these type of bugs? Do I need to clean her daily to avoid reinfestation? Sorry for all the questions. Any tips/ advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I would check it over regularly. QT for at least 3-6 weeks. Yes DE is effective against them. I have not had as much luck with neem and mealy/scale, but I know others have. Check every revise, as well as under the pot. They will also go into the soil along the roots.

Thank you so much 🙂 I check my plants on a daily basis, just had no idea what scale even looked like until I noticed the mealies and upon removal of a mealy, scale came off with it. The plant showed no sign of distress, I just hope I caught it early. I never thought about checking under the pot,she is due for a repot anyway, I'm just tossing the old pot. Thank you again for your advice. Very much appreciated. 🙂
