I’m having issues with fungus/plant gnats in my home. I’ve been using apple cider vinegar in tiny ramekin bowls which immediately baits and kills them but what is going on? How can get rid of them permanently together? I’ve had my plants since ‘20 and had never had this issue until this past Fall. I don’t want to get rid of my plants.

Are you allowing your plants to dry out between watering? You can also try bottom watering until you get the gnat issue under control. Some people have said adding Systemic Granules to the soil works as well. I personally use the Katchy device that helps control gnats. I seem to have at least one or two flying around from time to time. Guess that's something that just comes with owning houseplants! 😊🪴

cinnamon is good for fungal stuff. just add a bit to the water you use to water your plants or sprinkle it onto the surface of the soil and it’ll slowly fixed your problem. of course it’s not an immediate fix but it definitely helped me.

I believe the cinnamon has worked since your suggestion in March… even better than the vinegar/dishwashing detergent route. Thanks

System granules like Bonide are known to irritate lungs and cause lung cancer if not handled properly. You need personal protective equipment (haz mat outfit) including gloves to handle it per Bonide’s safety data sheet. Try Mosquito Bits or similar products containing Bti a beneficial bacteria that kill the fungus gnat larvae in the soil. Mix in water and use every time you water.
