Other than mosquito bits, the only other thing that worked for me was taking the plant out of the pot getting all the soil off washing the plant really well and planting in all new soil. That took care of it... for a while anyway. 🫤 They are precocious little buggers.

I second this. Repotting with fresh soil and sticky traps to get rid of any lingering stuff. I’ve also sprayed roots with hydrogen peroxide before repotting, but that can be a little risky. The only 100% effective method I’ve tried is repotting with new soil. A lot of work, but it’s super worth it not to have flies buzzing about.

Death drops. Also letting your plants dry out more in between watering

Where can I find that product? Just looked it up on amazon and found a spray

Happy Happy Houseplant sells it. You add it to the water. Mosquitoe bits also work, but I found those were more susceptible to growing moldy

Microbiolift drops for ponds in every watering. Same stuff BTi that's in mosquito bits

Aside from the sticky traps I’ve tried 2/3 water to 1/3 isopropyl alcohol and mist it on your plants and the soil. Tried it a couple of days ago for my plants and it seemed to have worked. I added a bit more water to alcohol ratio because I didn’t wanna harm my plants and the gnats have gone down in amount. Alternating that with cinnamon seems to have worked well!

I let my plant dry out almost completely, repotted with more drainage, and topped with pine mulch. I haven’t had any problems since

I tried that, they’ll come in from the bottom AND they live even in the plants that have dry soil. And my soil is well draining :(

Repotting and bottom watering has been my best fix. Still see them sometimes though 😩

You can use cinnamon powder on the soil. I unfortunately can’t post a link here but if you go to YouTube. Search for…how I eliminated fungus gnats on my houseplants by Sheffield Made Plants. I found this helpful. Good luck!! 🙏🏽

Hi there, I use yellow sticky traps to trap the adults fungus gnats and to get rid of the larvae, water with a larvicide called Vectobac. It’s a bacteria that you add to the water, watering once in week one then once a week later and that’s it.

Oh also to deal with the larvae you can use beneficial nematodes. I haven’t tried that option as the bacterial larvicide was easier to source where I am.
