I got a Chinese Taro a few months ago and ever since I have had it it has lost a lot of leaves, however it is growing plenty of new ones. They usually go floppy and eventually dry up and go brown. It is getting the right amount of water and plenty of sunlight. Am I doing something wrong? First picture is when I first got it, second is how it is now. You can see the brown bits towards the bottom of the stem where I have had to cut dead ones off.

Is that morning sun? It might be getting to much sun unless its morning sun. The brown on the stalks you can just pull off. Some plants do that. As long as its growing a bunch of new leaves i think your fine.

Nope this is afternoon sun. I have very limited natural light spots in my house (mid terrace with not many windows), I have another spot I could move it to however it would get next to no direct sunlight

Afternoon sun is too harsh for it to be directly on (most) plants and the brown spots make me believe it could be a burn from the exposure to direct light. Morning sun is usually the better option for direct light as it is not as harsh

Ok thank you I will try moving it to see if that helps!

No problem. Maybe moving it back a bit so that it’s getting the sun indirectly could help. Either way it’s a beauty, and I hope moving it helps!

It's ok for them to not get direct light . They like indirect light. I think it could be getting to much light especially since its afternoon sun. But if you want to keep it there just make sure you turn it 1/2 every time you water so it grows straight. You could also try the area as long as it gets indirect light there.

Ok thanks! I have just moved it to an area that doesn’t get direct light in the afternoon so I will see how it does there
