Does anyone know why the tips of my leaves are drying out on this Calathea? What could I do different? I am following the Planta schedule exactly.

I wouldnāt follow plantaās schedule to a āTā, Iād just use it as a reminder to check the soil, donāt want to overwater your plants š¬ also calatheaās usually love humidity and are sometimes sensitive to hard tap water
3 LikesIāve only used distilled water with fertilizer. I see new growth coming in and that is super exciting! My house has an AC that is too big and our humidity ranges around 65 to 75% so Iām a little stumped! Maybe Iāll set a humidifier at night where I know it is lower and see. š¤š¼
0 LikesAh okay, huh yeah youād think it wouldnāt be so stressed then. That might help, make sure it has enough airflow during the night with the humidifier so that no mold or fungal issues happen
1 LikeOk. Could it be the fertilizer? Is there a recommended kind that wonāt burn the leaf edges?
0 LikesIt could be fertilizer burn? When you water do you water until it runs out of the drainage holes? Itās important to flush the soil of any kind of mineral (although non-issue if youāre using distilled) or fertilizer build up that can accumulate without at least occasional deep watering
1 LikeI do water it until it drains out. š¤ So finicky these plants! š©
0 LikesGorgeous!!!
1 LikeIāve been reading more and more and I think you may be right! Is there a specific more gentle fertilizer I could use?
1 LikeI use Grow Co organic on most of my plants ā it STINKS and itās sticky but my plants love it. i added a pump top and usually do one full pump per liter of water
1 LikeCalatheas are so so picky. Iāve gotten mine to thrive by starting to bottom water and just let it soak up as much as itād like. Also give it as much humidity as you possibly can. I was told that if you mimic a rainforest floor as much as possible itāll thank you.
1 LikeGood to know! Iāll try that! How exactly does that work?
0 LikesGet a large bowl or dish of some kind and fill it with water, then sit the pot inside and let it keep soaking up water until itās done. The older leaves with damage wonāt fully heal but youāll definitely notice new leaves doing much better. They donāt like being overwatered but they love to be drenched, so just let it dry between watering and then practically flood it.
2 LikesWanted to let you know, I did this! And Iām hopeful! I think the edge burning is slowing down! š©š¤š¼šš¼
1 LikeAwesome! I hope it continues to help
1 LikeThis is working! No new burned leaves, new growth and the new leaves are looking good! š¤š¼š„°
