Repot it

mold is mostly harmless to plants but repotting during winter can cause transplant shock and cold damage if you do it outside. definitely wouldn’t recommend this course of action

mold means either you’ve been watering too frequently or the soil stays wet too long. i’d suggest simply scraping the mold off the top and don’t water your tradescantia until the top inch or so of soil is dry

I have a spray bottle, with a 1:3 mix of hydrogen peroxide and water, and I give the mold a light misting with it. I’m sure repotting it would help too but sometimes I just need to snooze the mold.

いいね 1件I’ve had success with sprinkling cinnamon on top and switching to bottom watering to ensure that top layer never gets wet. Cinnamon kills the mold, keeping the top inch dry ensures the mold doesn’t come back. My space has horrible air flow and humidity during the cold months, so this is always a struggle for me.
