Is this ponytail palm savable? This came in a pot with 3. I have had this for two years and it recently started looking bad so I separated them all and took off all the brown leave. The other two are thriving but this one had the worst of it. Barely any leaves that were viable. Then those ones started looking bad. I just want to know if I can save this plant and get it to thrive again like my other two.

A few things can cause it to quickly decline. Pests: Have you checked for pests eating the roots? Water: Have you repotted with a different mix of soil, maybe one holding too much water? Slow drying soil can rotten the roots Light: Is it getting full direct sun? Ponytail palms thrive in full sun. The palm fronds look a little pale.

I have checked all of that the other two that came out of the same pot are thriving. In the same type of pots with the same soil getting the same amount of sun. Will it come back if I just keep caring for it?

It’s hard to say especially with it being so young. It just wasn’t as hardy as the others so doesn’t necessarily matter if they were in the same pot. If the caudex is soft, I would say definitely not. If it’s firm and there is still green on the stem or at the apex, it’s possible. I might try straight pumice or perlite or do a ratio of 80/20 perlite/soil for a while.
