Hi, does anyone know what yellow spotting on a money tree could be from? I’ve had this plant for a few years now and it has produced slot of growth over the years but also has lost a lot of leaves. It keeps getting yellow spots, like towards the edge of the leaves, then eventually completely yellows and dies off. Pictures below to show.

Mine is doing the same thing—yellow spots on older leaves.

Some of mine are older leaves while a couple are towards the top bigger leaves. I can’t seem to figure it out. :/ I’ve checked for pests, it gets light from north window plus a grow light. I’ve tried adjusting watering in the past but the problem persists.

That is weird! I’ve never seen anything like that. Could be a fungus, maybe? There’s also an incurable virus called mosaic disease but I know nothing about it other than a couple years ago I lost one plant to it, a giant gorgeous Adensonii. It looks different on different plants. You can search YouTube for videos about it maybe? That’s where I get most of my training! 😊🪴🌱🪴🌱😊

I was wondering if maybe fungal disease it bacterial disease, I’m going to have to check what that looks like. I’ve heard of mosaic disease as well but I don’t know a lot of about it, I thought it was contagious to other plants but I’ll look that up too! Thanks! I love watching YouTube plant videos 😍 that’s where I’ve done most of my researching/learning too!

I don’t actually think it’s mosaic disease. I bet it’s more like a nutrient thing like Terracotta mentioned. At the very least, you have a plant that has unusual variegation. A unicorn plant!!

Did you recently move or repot it? Money trees get stressed easily by environmental changes and their leaves would turn yellow and drop if they’re disturbed.

No I haven’t move recently. Last time I repotted was Aug 22’. At first I thought it was from repot stress but it hasn’t stopped. It’s grown a lot but also has lost leaves. 😕

Since it’s been that long, you might want to take a look at the roots and see how they’re doing, even if you don’t plan on repotting it. The yellowing leaves could also be a nutrient deficiency issue, so refreshing the soil would help if that’s the case.

That’s a good idea! I’ll take a look at the roots and see what’s going on down there and give it some fresh soil.

Mine has been doing the same exact thing. I ended up repotting it and giving it fresh soil. The spotting bas reduced but its still not happy.
