I have this calathea that pretty much died on me. I trimmed back all the dead leaves, started watering with tap water I leave out overnight, and he’s placed right next to a humidifier. He looks a lot healthier but his leaves are still turning crispy. He is not in direct light at all so I don’t know what else to try

They hate tap water BTW. Is there any way you can grab some rainwater or get a jug of distilled? It should help.

I don’t have any filtered water and I live in an area where it doesn’t rain much, I might grab a jug of water and see how it changes things

You can usually buy a jug at the grocery for a few bucks. Try it and see if it helps. Good luck!

How often do you water him? I have a a calathea just like yours and she requires being watered very often. Don’t let her get dry but water her when she is still a bit moist. That should keep her leaves from turning crispy. Good luck! 😊💚🪴

I agree. I have this Calathea (as well as 5 more Calatheas) and I never let any of them dry more than halfway down.

If you have any fish tanks, I always water all my plants with dirty fish tank water and they seem to really enjoy that over tap water!
