When you transplant you will want a pot that is 6 in diameter. If the pot you have is already 6 in I would leave it there for now. As far as care of a caladium they like bright indirect light, slightly acidic soil which may be accomplished by adding Peat to a potting mix or using an acid fertilizer. They thrive in warm temperatures and high humidity. Keep it always moist but never soggy. Do not let it flower. Remove any flower spikes when they appear to promote the beautiful leaves. It is normal for caladium to go dormant in late summer or fall even in warm climates. When the leaves begin to fade, trim them off to keep it looking pretty. When the plant goes dormant you should let the soil dry out and remove the tubers from the soil and store them in a cool dry place in a box or bag. When you replant them be sure the "eyes" are facing upward. If you keep them in a pot plant them in spring or early summer when the temperatures are warming up. If you put them in the ground the soil needs to be warm (70°). This will depend on what zone you're in. Lastly, fertilize regularly with a diluted fertilizer. Choose an all purpose fertilizer or something with low phosphorus because you're not promoting flower development. Since your new I will explain. All fertilizer has an analysis. It'll be three numbers somewhere on the bag. The first number is nitrogen the second number is phosphorus the third number is potassium. All of the elements are important but nitrogen promotes foliage, phosphorus promotes flowers and potassium is good for everything.
