Hey there friends! I’m SUPER new to everything plants and I’m making a couple posts just to make sure I’m doing things right šŸ˜… This is my only plant that is ā€œthrivingā€ and even that term is used loosely here… I water once a week it sits on top of my bookshelf in direct sunlight. I’m in Arizona so I know the reasons for the spots are likely due to that and I’ll be moving it to a different location during those times to see if that helps! Otherwise my questions are: Does the trunk look okay? Or is that rot? I added photos with a leaf (front and back) that looks a little off and just wanted someone to confirm or deny that something happened there. AND anything else I can do to make her flourish? When I say new I mean REALLY new I have a handful of tips and tricks that barely get me through it half the time. I’m grateful for every piece of advice!

I recommend keeping it in full sunlight. Crotons like 8 hours of direct sun a day. I recommend not moving the plant to avoid the stress of changing locations. Try adding a humidifier to simulate the tropics where they originate. Low humidity can cause issues with the leaves such as tearing and abnormal new growth points. Too dry soil for too long can dry out the plant too much. Water as soon as the soil dries out. Check for pests like spider mites that produce webbing. šŸŖ“šŸ€
