I got tulips from my mom a few days ago maybe a week and they are starting to die already and the bulbs are really dry and the soil can hardly like move. I don’t know if I’m doing anything wrong if there’s something I should do differently with them should be watering them more?

purple leaves is a sign of too much sun or a lack of nutrients, even though they are full sun plants, they can get too much sun, so I would move into a area where it still gets sun but gets less sun. And use plant food

The soil looks a little dry and they probably did get too much hot sun without adequate moisture, but after you water them you can plant them in the ground somewhere where it will get good light in next year or perhaps the year after you may have another crop of tulips. Sometimes forced tulips do not produce well when planted but it's worth a try. I've done this with daffodils and Hyacinth with great success.

You should water them as soon as the soil gets dry. And move them to a less sunny area- the leaves look kinda like they’re shriveling a bit :>
