Rosemary leaves browning from the tips to the base. This rosemary plant is in ground outdoors in a sandy clay loam bed that I double dug last year with compost before planting. It faired really well over the summer but since December the weather in our area has been cold and damp (we’ve had several snow storms since the beginning of January and it has taken a while for things to dry out). I’ve dug the plant up and am taking it inside but the roots appear to be fine (not mushy or otherwise showing signs of rot). What could be the problem?

It may be dormant or lost a few stems in the cold. Wait until spring time or until there’s no more frost then trim back everything that’s dead!

Thanks, I trimmed all of the brown foliage back and brought it inside in a pot. I suspect it’s probably cold damage. The stems and brown foliage were all soft and pliable, and the roots seem healthy so hopefully it will recover in the comfort of the house

Rosemary is Hardy only to zone 8. They really don't like cold and wet.

It can still get too cold if temperature drops too low. I just tossed my new rosemary plant. I’m in zone 9.
