No not at all I also had gnats a few months ago and now with the following methods Ive been completely gnat free for 2 months. - Spray your plants with neem oil (it stinks a bit so dilute it maybe 5 sprays of neem oil in your normal spray bottle) - If you know your plant is infected use hydrogen peroxide on the soil, it kills the babies - zeevo fly traps alos work to kill the adults - fans make it so gnats can’t lend on your plants - a repot can get rid of gnats but if you aren’t careful they can come back - THE ABSOLUTE BEST thing you can do though is mosquito bites. They worked so well for me just take a pinch of the pellets and throw them into your watering can and just wait 5-10 mins to let them work and your gnats will be gone in a week

The conditions in the soil promotes the growth of the larvae in the soil: The soil is not allowed to dry out more. The fungus gnats lay eggs on the moist top soil. The larvae lives in the moist soil. Promote good air circulation around the soil to help it dry faster by adding a fan and running one in the rooms with plants. Replace the soil with a moss free potting mix. Soil with peat moss or sphagnum moss can hold too moisture too long. Additionally, kill the larvae in the soil by using Microbe-Lift liquid and Mosquito Bits granules. Both products are larvicides that break the lifecycle of the gnats by eliminating the gnat larvae. Sticky traps catches the adults.

My favorite additional tip is carnivores plants. Especially pitchers and pinguiculas. They need some specialty care like high light and distilled water, but pretty easy overall. I have them set under glow lights at night so any bugs get attracted directly to them. Even the flower stems catch bugs👏

I agree with the microbe lift BMC as I had fungus gnats bad a year ago and now have none. I have also converted many of my plants over to pon/semi hydro so there is less soil in the house as well.

Mosquito bit soup. 1 gal water, 1 cup of mosquito bits. Let sit for 30 mins. Strain out the mosquito bits. Use this “soup” next time you water your plants. :) Also- YELLOW sticky traps.

I fight gnats every year. I hate them. They bite! I use neem oil. Yellow stickers and purchased indoor bug zappers. They also breed in your drains so there is stuff you can buy on Amazon to pour down your drains.
