Can anyone tell me what these little spots are on my Birkin???
It may be sun damage. variegated plants are more susceptible to sunburns. i would still give it a routine check for pests or fungus anyways, just in case, but i think the solution is moving it away from the window.
0 Me gustaIt’s the “Birkin brown spots”. Common issue. Both of my plants have it. I researched it a few months ago. One nursery said they were having improvement with a fungal treatment I believe. Google it. There may be more updated info available now. Many theories but nothing definitive when I researched.
1 me gustaalso sometimes philodendrons put out sap so if the brown dots are also sticky check of pest because they usually make the sap when they are stressed which can be caused by pest, but also the sap attracts pests!
0 Me gustaMy Birkin has always had spots, takes awhile to accrue on the new leaves. I haven’t found anything that helps.
0 Me gustaCalcium deposits, are you using distilled or rain water only?
0 Me gustaNo, tap water. My spider plants have brown tips, I was thinking the water was an issue...
0 Me gustaI use RO water (same as distilled) and both of mine have the spots. Otherwise I would have suspected the water also.
