Concerned about my white birds of paradise. She’s indoors but I’ve noticed lately that her leaves have been curling. I also see that the other leaf isn’t unfurling properly. When I feel the leaves, it feels kinda crispy on the edges. I do water her weekly, but I do get scared that if I water her too much, I might get root rot. I do not use a humidifier or a grow light. If anybody has any idea what i can change. Thank you

Looks like the new leaf ripped itself trying to unfurl. This is probably a humidity issue. Not uncommon as the days get colder. You could cluster plants around it to create a microclimate and increased humidity. Otherwise there’s small humidifiers you can get on amazon for around $10.

How long would I need to put the humidifier on?

I have one that connects to an app on my phone (Dreo) so it automatically turns on/off if it isn’t at my set humidity level. I wanted it to be as easy/low maintenance as possible. The little ones I would probably run 2 times a week if I had to guess? I’ve never used the them ones before though and I would assume frequency would depend on your ambient household humidity. The mini ones usually last for 6-8h, which would need too frequent refilling for the humidity I keep for my plants so I went with one that lasts 30- 40h

Try to use a humidifier. You can also wrap a damn paper towel around the leaves when unfurling to give some moisture. You could do it once a day til starts to open. And additional plants like Tina said can help!

Yeah that happens with bop alot. A humidifier and growlights would help it but it's pretty normal with them.

I'm wondering if you're being a little over cautious when you water it. I know you said you water once a week, but when you water it, are you giving it enough? Crispy edges to leaves suggest under watering. Maybe you need to water less frequently but give it more water when you do. As long as you let the water drain out the bottom fully and discard any excess so it's not sat in water, then the roots should stay rot free.
