Hi! I’m fairly new to planting lol I’ve had my monstera for maybe a month and the app suggested I repot it. I watched a few videos and did my best, but now it’s dropping.. is it ok? In scared I’m going to loose her :(

    Sometimes they go through a bit of a shock after repotting. Does your pot have drainage holes? What kind of soil did you use?

      It does, I just have to get a little plate. I used regular indoor potting mix, I think it was the miracle gro one lol

    take it out of that pot as soon as you can and redo it 💙 monsteras need a chunky mix to breathe; best to mix potting soil with perlite and orchid bark so it gets plenty of oxygen and easily drains. miracle gro potting mix will be too dense and compact for your plant to thrive. also make sure your pot is only 1-2 inches bigger than the root ball so the plant doesn’t get overwhelmed and easily overwatered! 💙

    Here’s an example of how you want your soil to look! I use Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil because it’s dense in nutrients and has a bunch of awesome amendments like worm castings that monsteras love. I’m sure the soil you have will be fine for the time being but you may want to add fertilizer in the future to make sure it keeps growing. I throw in enough orchid bark and perlite until the soil feels loose enough in the palm of my hand.

    And here’s a diagram to show you where to eventually support it with plant ties on a coco coir pole, moss pole or trellis of some kind. I think you have several monsteras in one pot, if you like the bushy look that’s totally fine but I would recommend making sure you have three plants in one pot maximum. The aerial roots will come out the back side of the plant so make sure they all face the same direction. Monsteras are a solar plant so it’s better for them to face the light source and not turn them, that’s how you’ll get big beautiful leaves that are nicely staggered. Good luck! 💙

      Thank you so much for all the help!! I’ve been searching like crazy for the fox farm soil but I can’t find it anywhere so I ordered it on Amazon lol

    Great info. Thank you! I have learned the hard way with Miracle Gro. I almost always have to amend the soil with perlite and orchid bark. Everything just root rots otherwise.

      I’ve found that Miracle Gro is the Mcdonald’s of soil 🫣 Fox Farm is expensive but it’s the best I’ve found and so worth it for plants that I love!
