Does sun catch that variegated leaf, if so Sunburn: The white parts of a variegated leaf lack chlorophyll, making them more sensitive to direct sunlight. Too much direct sun can scorch these areas, causing them to turn brown and crispy, other issue could be lake of moisture or that water or fertilizer has landed on that part of the leaf and stayed on there for a while, that part of the leaf won’t get its color back, but cutting of the end part will stop that leaf growing, the rest of the leaf will still supply goodness to main plant. Some variegated leafs stay that color then sometimes change to yellow, never green, that’s part of the Thai variety that does this, mine was white but has now turned yellow
4 Me gustaSo if you want you can cut of the brown bit, also could cause fungus if decays that part, I’ve cut a few leaves that have had damage from pests leaf never dies ( your leaf will still grow as it’s the the far end 2 leaves)
0 Me gustaIt is outside on my balcony but we don’t get much sun as it’s north facing, so it’s almost entirely in indirect light. I was considering it could be that but it went from a little spot to growing to what is pictured. Is best course to trim the damage?
0 Me gustaYes just trim the brown off
1 me gustaThe brown often happens to highly variegated plants. Many people use a silica supplement to help avoid this happening. It’s also good for all plants. Sort of a plant strengthening supplement. Try googling it because there are a couple types. This is what I use. Comes in a smaller size too. From Amazon.
