Anyone with insight into the brown spot on my mom’s thai? it’s, soft, not crispy. We found 2 thais for sale at the grocery store- mine is growing (that said, i have it right on the window sill) but her’s isn’t and recently developed this spot.

I need a little more context before giving advice. How much light is it getting? Which direction is the natural light coming from? How often does she water it? How often does she fertilize it? Has she checked it for pest or diseases?

I don’t know much about these kinds of plants but I have heard that plants with these light spots tend to be prone to damage. I believe this is due to a lack of chloroplasts making them extra vulnerable. A few of my friends have tried to keep plants with large white spots with little to no success. I hope u have better luck with it!!

They are slow growers, FYI. Also, the brown tends to happen on the whiter parts more often than the green. Why its happening depends on the light and watering situation you habe going on with that plant, so it is tough to day, as another commenter already pointed out.
