Wondering what people’s experiences are with treating thrips?? Came to find out yesterday that it seems most of my plants are probably infected🫠. Going to try and treat some of them though have seen that many people have tough experiences with this pest and end up throwing plants out🥲 TIA!!

Hiya, sorry to hear that! I’m going through a thrip journey right now myself. I have to say that I am not on top of spraying with the regularity you probably need (ie at least every week) because life is too chaotic to allow that 🙃 I was mixing up a solution of liquid castille soap and neem oil in water as my spray but have recently change to neem oil+ eco oil + insecticidal soap in water as I’ve read that thrips can get used to the same spray. The ingredients are all rated suitable for organic gardening including food crops so they aren’t super harsh (I’m assuming that means it’ll take longer). I’m planning to introduce a few different types of beneficials as well to tackle the problem from multiple angles. Oh I’ve also set up blue sticky paper as thrips are apparently attracted to it. It also helps with fungus gnats if you have any of them annoyingly buzzing around. So basically yes, multi pronged approach!

I big time feel life being too chaotic to stay all the way on top of this!😵‍💫 It feels like a daunting task to get up and going on top of life stressors already. I appreciate your insight and will definitely use a few approaches to start tackling this! Crossing my fingers that the buggers give us a break and our treatment gets them all gone🤞🏼

The things we do for our little green babies, eh? A trusted and knowledgeable plant friend has always advised that the castille soap and neem spray should be done every 3 days for no less than 6 weeks. I was never able to commit to that but she swears by it as it deals with thrips in their lifecycle. Acknowledging that this is definitely a lot though, especially if many plants have been affected. I’m here for your journey and happy to commiserate and share wins too 🌿🌿🌿
