Does anyone know why the tips and edges of the leaves are brown and crunchy? I think it’s a Japanese Bird’s nest fern. I have very little plant knowledge beyond the basics so feel free to dumb down any advice. Thanks in advance!

I'm a new plant mama so take this with a grain of salt, but one of the YT'ers I follow says if they are crunchy, is dry; if soft brown, it's overeatered. So I don't know if that's all plants, or the ones that he was talking about. I'll be interested in learning from others!!

If youre not seeing pests, It might be a humidity issue. You could try misting regularly

I had this plant as well and it slowly died, I tried everything to help revive it and nothing worked, but I did read that if the tips turn brown it’s under watering.. but that could be wrong

Yeah, I read the same thing about underwatering. But I’m confused because I’m water it exactly how often this app tells me to

The app isn't fail safe unfortunately. And it's working off fed parameters. Most ferns prefer pretty high humidity to stay alive and happy, and just watering won't give that.

Yeah that makes sense. I’ll try misting it

I just got a bird’s nest fern, it got brown tips so I stuck a small humidifier next to it, brown tips means it’s dry especially if it’s cold where you are and you’re running your heat, I also water it as the App suggest. Make sure it gets good indirect light, it needs light to thrive too, I have it by my east window and it gets good morning sun.

It’s got indirect light from a nearby window.
