Good morning, my friends! So I’m having some problems with the tin man, my Aglaonema Silver Bay. He was in a good chunky soil mix when purchased, at least I thought so, and then started having droopy problems. I held off on watering him for a bit and he perked up somewhat, but then started to decline again. I checked the soil, and it wasn’t as chunky as I thought and was pretty much packed and very moist around the roots. I took him out, noticed some significant root rot, but does have some new root growth that is healthy. Gently scrubbed off the gross roots and soil with a hydrogen peroxide solution, rinsed, and now I’m letting it air dry before putting it in some distilled water. This was recommended to me by some other plant parents, but any other suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

If the soil was too compact it won’t be able to drink. I propagate agleonema in distilled water so that sounds like a good plan. Keep close eye on the roots. Good luck!!!
