Hey! New plant owner here. I have this calathea and her tips recently started turning brown?? This room doesn’t get much light so I have most of my plants under a grow light for about 12hrs per day. Her soil is moist and I recently misted her but don’t know if I should continue to do that either haha. Anything helps!

Beautiful plant. They need high humidity. If you have A/C running, it will dry out the air. The other issue with calatheas is they don’t like certain minerals that are often found in tap water. Some people claim that chlorimine is the issue. In other words they need distilled water, or R/O water, or at least filtered water. And your grow light should be a high quality high wattage light. The little cheap 5 watt lights found all over Amazon won’t be enough. And btw, misting really doesn’t do much for humidity but it will help keep spider mites away.

Thanks for the insight! I do have A/C running on/off throughout the day to maintain around 67 degrees inside. It’s probably within draft range too. My bathroom holds quite a bit of moisture after a shower, maybe in there could be good? Or just getting a humidifier? I have been using tap water for it. I’ll get my hands on some distilled water. My grow light panels are 40W each

Get yourself a humidistat so you have a better idea of where you are for humidity. Grow light sounds good. I have a humidifier running 24 hours a day. It’s in my tropical corner. Rest of set up is succulents.

You may need to check for spider mites, I have a calathea with the same issues I just figured out had spider mites after it infected a couple more of my plants 🥲
