I keep having issues with my spider plants. They all seem to be drying out and dying. I am sticking to the care plan. Any ideas why they do that? My other plants seem to be doinng fine, so I don’t think it’s the temperature in my flat.

it’s either over or under watering, your soil and its drainage, or the lighting. Watering and soil go together, if your soil is hydrophobic or drains too much the roots are not getting water, or simply you may just be under watering (planta isn’t perfect). otherwise, try putting them in a spot with direct sun. if you up the lighting you’ll need to up the water with it cause it’ll dry faster.

Thank you. I have noticed that the roots are growing almost out of the pot and it might be that she is root bound? This picture is before watering today so she is a bit dry. Maybe I do need to water more often ☹️

i’d definitely suggest a repot to puts the plant down into the soil and secure it in. it’ll also give the plant fresh soil that it won’t be choking in. when you repot you can see if the issue is it falling out or if it’s just too big (or even possibly too small) for the pot. best of luck!

The soil looks very dry since it has separated from the side of the pot. The exposed roots look like they dry rotted either from exposure or dehydration. Check the roots at the bottom and sides for dry rot or overwatering. Healthy spider plant roots are white and plump from base to tip. They like being root bound. See my photo. Check the base of the plants. They look soft and dark. It’s a sign they are dying off. You can try changing the soil. Soak it in water to rehydrate before repotting to make it easier to remove the soil. I’m not sure if it can be saved. It’s worth trying. 🪴🍀🍀🍀

Could it be your tap water possibly? Mine is so bad that I can smell the chlorine 😬.

I don’t think it’s the water as my other plants are quite happy! But thanks :)

I have very hard water and started watering mine with distilled water. It’s so much happier now!

For all my other plants, I just add a conditioner.

It’s most definitely the light because I have one and it almost died when I kept it inside ,I had to prune most of the leafs back but it’s way more healthier now since I put it in the light

👋 I purchased some small grow lights that either use the pot to hold it up or you can stick the stem into the soil. Perhaps this plant would like something like that. I have a small spider plant that seems to be enjoying the extra light! Hope that helps!
