This is my first time having an issue with an Alocasia African Mask. The soil is fairly dense, so I suspect it was waterlogged. I watered it a week ago and the second newest leaf felt soggy and ‘melted’ where the hole is. It is slowly spreading still. Should I cut the leaf off, or just the effected area? The rest of the plant seems good. Soil feels much less dense and wet now, it is damp about an inch down. In a plastic pot

I would cut it off. Those holes won’t be repaired and your plant can direct energy into new growth.

Was the new leaf exposed to direct sunlight? Sun exposure can cause burns which leave black spots on the leaves/stems. 🪴🍀
