Can someone please help diagnose why the leaves on my Orbifolia have yellow corners, eventually turning to crispy brown as in the pictures here? It sits in a close proximity to a humidifier and I water the plant when the top layer is somewhat dry. Oh I checked thoroughly and it has no signs of pests. How can I fix this?

Could it be too close to a window maybe? Try putting it in a less sunny spot.

Thanks, I see why Sunlight can be a likely cause but I should’ve mentioned in my post earlier, it gets filtered light and not really close to the window, so I doubt if that’s the issue

Oh, probably the other comments may be more helpful, I know they can be a bit picky with water

Whenever my plants go crispy I usually do that and usually helps

It could also be the water you use as calatheas are sensitive to minerals. If you use tap water I would suggest switching to rainwater. I almost completely killed my Calathea Orbifola by using tap, now that I use rain water it is growing two new leaves!! Hope this helps and hope your plant feels better!!

I second this but you can also use distilled water if you are somewhere you can’t collect rain water.

And I also agree with the water sensitivity but I use a conditioner on mine that was referenced by the YouTuber Sheffield.

Thanks! I’ve been using tap water and probably will make the switch!

Thank you! Glad to know the rain water helped your Orbifolia to bounce back :)

Work on sunlight intake and if you have a spray bottle create a mixture of hydrogen peroxide only and water and spray on leaves of your plant 2 twice a day. For 1-2months if it’s potentially getting sick of a fungus infection separate your plant from other plants if you have any others around to avoid spreading of illness. Always discard dead leaves immediately never keep around

Thank you! I always wondered if it is something fungal. I’ll keep any eye out
