A little unsure if this is a problem or if it’s common, but I bought this thyme from a local nursery a couple days ago without thoroughly inspecting it. I’m pretty new to plant care and it seems like the thyme already has some minor signs of leaf damage, while repotting it yesterday I noticed it seems like there are more roots growing out of some of the woody stems. Are these in fact roots? If so, should I bury the plant until every single root is covered? Should I cut these stems off and propagate into a separate pot? There is a hefty amount of roots beneath the dirt that definitely don’t appear to be weak but I’ve never personally seen this happen to plants in my time. Any info would be greatly appreciated:)

I’ve grown thyme before including last summer. I don’t recall them ever having aerial roots. I’m guessing that section had a lot of moisture. You can try propagating a small branch to see if it will grow alone after being separated.

Yeah it’s a bit odd right? The plant shows signs of severely uneven watering in some places so that might be the case
