I watered my snake plant today and discovered what looks like mites in the soil. They are VERY small and they don’t appear on any of the leaves, just in the wet soil. What are these bugs? How did my plant get them? Are they a risk to me or my 2 indoor cats? How can I get rid of them?

If you don’t see any bugs on the leaves, they’re probably soil mites! They’re helpful because they eat the larvae of fungus gnats and thrips. They eat decaying matter in the soil as well which can help prevent root rot.
