I need help! I’m wondering if my Peace Lily has just been overwatered or if something else is going on with her!! We got this Peace Lily in 2021 when my grandma passed away and we’ve never had any issues with her until now!! She is severely drooping. I repotted her today because it seemed she was outgrowing her pot. It seemed to be overwatered because she was just sitting in a pool of dirty water when I removed the inner pot. And when I repotted her, I went to loosen the roots, but the soil was so wet that it wanted to just fall apart in my hands!! Is this an overwatering issue? Or is something else going on? What can I do to save my Peace Lily?! Please help!!

What are the roots like? Brown mushy and gross? Great job on the repot, just make sure the substrate is airy. When watering let the plant sit in the water for a hour or so, so it can properly take it up, then dump the rest down the sink.

Agree. Once I started bottom watering mine a few years back I saw a world of difference in their health.

Was it dropping before you repotted her? Mine also only droops when it needs water but I just repotted two of mine, also from a family members funeral 4 years ago. Both of them were fine when I repotted but they were droopy for a good two weeks after I put them in their new pots! I was scared I was losing them but they slowly recovered. I mixed my own soil to keep it less dense so I think mine went through shock. I kept them moist and monitored with a moisture meter. I kept watering as needed if the soil really was dry. My roots were fine also so maybe it is shock? I had a monstera that did the same thing once. I think going forward I will always keep as much of their previous substrate as possible. I hope yours gets better soon!

Mine also totally droops when it needs water and— probably because it is so dense— I let it sit in water for 30 minutes. If I don’t, it doesn’t uptake enough water.
