Hi guys, my golden pothos is doing great besides these two leaves. They are yellow, turning brown, and drooping. My plant is taking a long time to drain through the drainage holes, and it is on the window sill receiving direct sunlight throughout the day. It’s getting colder here so I might move away from the window. Any advice to keep it healthy?

Remove the yellow leaves. They won’t go back. And take a wooden skewer and poke holes through the solid all throughout. This is called aerating the soil and you need to do this when it’s not draining quickly. Also don’t over water. Pathos like their soil to dry out completely in between watering :) you can also leave it by the window. It shouldn’t be affected by the cold that much and will enjoy the sunlight

Use less water when I water it or water it less often?

Water it less often. Only water after it completely dries regardless of the Planta notifications. Excess standing water causes yellowing leaves from root rot. Use wooden or bamboo skewers to test the soil for wetness like checking if a cake is done baking. Older leaves die off. It could be shedding old leaves. Pothos grows slower in cooler weather. So, it needs less water to grow. Photosynthesis slows in winter if the plant is using only sunlight. Shorter days means less natural light and slower growth. You should consider adding a grow light if more leaves yellow and the watering is not an issue. Also, decorative rocks on top of the soil slows the soil drying out under the rocks. 🍀🪴

If your soil is not draining well it would be a good idea to replace the soil with something better. This is not exactly the right time of the year to repot but if the problem continues it might be worth it. Also, pothos are not especially fond of direct sun. They like bright indirect light and can adapt to lower light if necessary. if necessary.

Yes replace the soil with some more appropriate for the plant. If you don’t, problems will continue. Soil amended with perlite or orchid bark would work.
