That might be the issue! You don’t need to repot them but every time you water, make sure to drain out the excess water

Absolutely repot. By an orchid pot which has holes in the sides. You can buy plastic ones online and ceramic ones in the store. When you repot use an orchid mix. It'll be a very barky mix. Soak the bark mix for about 30 minutes in water before you plant. Distilled rain or filtered water are better options than tap water but if you must use tap water let it sit for 24 hours. Without seeing the plan it's hard to say but normally I pull out all of the mossy stuff from The Roots. You'll have the leaves with a bunch of roots hanging down and a lot of air. As you replant use a chopstick to poke and prod the soil medium between the roots. It sounds complicated but it's really not. You also want to plant it a little deeper in the pot than it is in the cup. too bad.

Sphagnum moss holds way too much moisture, and will certainly cause root rot if you’re new to these guys. As above has said, clear orchid pot with a bark mix. Their roots are like sponges. They like to soak up a bunch of moisture and then dry out. These also like a lot of air flow (hence the bark mix in a pot with holes all over). The roots will be your sign to water. If they are white/silvery the plant is thirsty. If they are green then it’s fine and don’t water. A great way to water (once you’ve changed your medium to bark) is you let it soak. So fill a pot to the base of the plant and let it sit for 10-15 mins. Or till the roots go green again, depending on how dehydrated it is. Then you dump out ALL the water. Wait till the roots change color again to water again. When you repot make sure to cut away any rotten, dead roots. Only keep healthy green/white roots.
