I received this Raindrop/Coin Leaf Peperomia in the mail last week and it’s been doing great until this morning. I found this grey spot that is hard to capture on camera, but is more like the green has left the leaf and it’s become a semi-wrinkled clear remnant of the leaf where the spot is. I’ve never seen this happen with any of my plants. I checked it for pests and root issues and I don’t have any pest problems with any of my plants and the roots look fine. Any help is very greatly appreciated. (To clarify, the brown stuff on the undersides of the leaves is just dirt, not a pest. It just got on the leaves from the soil and root check)

It might be peperomia ring spot 😬😬just from looking it up it doesn’t look good and that would explain the cupped leaves too

Where did you get this plant?

Online off Etsy. The seller sent it from Spokane, Washington

Yeahhh if there’s no pests, the roots look healthy and not overwatered and you haven’t overwatered it, but I don’t see how you could anyways if you got it last week. I’ve heard sketchy things about some plant Etsy sellers 😬if it’s ring spot there’s nothing you can really do, it’s a plant virus basically

Oh wow. I’ll quarantine it from the rest, then. I was wondering if it was oedema, as the leaves were curled and it’s in a very small, shallow pot, so I thought perhaps the leaves were absorbing more water than it could take, especially since there’s a few new leaves. It’s only in a 2 in pot, and the Planta app told me to water it a lot more often than I have with my other peperomias.

Yeah I’d quarantine it just to be safe, I mean it could be edema but to me the pictures don’t line up as much. You could treat it for edema and repot it in dry soil and kindve start fresh to see.

I was thinking it’s oedema because of this on one if the curled leaves. It’s in a very small pot. I was planning on repotting it but I have to grab some soil and new pots at the store first. It’ll stay in quarantine in the meantime. Thanks for responding, though. I really appreciate the advice.

Hmmm now that leaf looks more like it, idk, there might be more than one thing going on or there might just be that. Yeah, I’d definitely repot in a terracotta with really well draining soil mix (use more than one type of soil for your mix, like do perlite or orchid bark or coco coir as well). Yeah of course, hope it makes it somehow for you, peperomia is definitely on my dream list

I’m staying hopeful. I’m gonna try to get new soil this week, so I’ll see how it handles repotting and some drying out. On a lighter note, I’ve had a great time with my variegated peperomia obtusifolia. I think I’ve learned my lesson about buying plants online rather than from my local nursery where I can see if they have any issues before buying them. Highly recommend my obstufolia if you’re looking for one. I got mine for about 7 bucks.
