Hi guys! I have joined this app. A complete noob when it comes to plants. So far I have a fern and 2 prayer plants. I have a cat so have to be careful with what plant's I keep. I have a couple of questions... 1. What resources / books / websites etc would you recommended for me to give me a good start I'm my plant journey. 2. What plant would you recommended I purchase next. Thank you! Looking forward to creating a beautiful home with my plants x

Welcome. I'd say youtube is a great place to get info. There's some really great folks on there. Most of the plant books i have are reference texts. Ideally you'd want to get a plant ideally for your sites available. The app will recommend plants based on its needs, if you click the search eyeglass it has a recommend plants option, then it goes to your site options, and you can click on one for options

I love these YouTubers, too, and also Aloha Plant Life.

Try a pothos! They pretty very forgiving with lighting and watering. My kitty leaves my plants alone so I can get whatever but they look really nice on shelves/tables (out of the way) since they hang down if your kitty is a naughty curious one.

Just an fyi, you started with a couple of difficult plants. I get a lot of info from Reddit, the Planta app, and googling the plant name. YouTube can be helpful but I tended to find a lot of misinformation, along with very good information. Good luck and in a short amount of time you will learn what makes logical sense and what doesn’t.

Coming in hot with prayer plants to start! I love them, but many plant parents don’t and avoid them. They’re super needy and don’t like being alive. If you can handle a prayer plant, you can handle anything! Try a pothos or philodendron next :)
