whats leaving these marks i already used neem oil but it hey came back
If itās a fungus, like black spot, you need to use NEEM oil as a spray for four times in a row; thatās every 7 to 10 days for four times. Iāve had to do that several times, and I just put it on my calendar to remind me. Also, if this plant does have something like black spot, and itās near your other plants, itās quite contagious, or so I found; that means all your plants need to be in your spray program. Best of luck!
0 gillningarunfortunately i no longer have the neem oil it's in storage. what's another alternative?
1 gillaI would suggest buying a small bottle of NEEM spray at your local hardware or box store. Itās definitely not expensive, and might help you treat your plant. If we were close, Iād gladly give you some of mine. In fact, where are you? TIA!
1 gillaThere are other fungicides available as well as neem. Also the brown spots will not go away. You will stop the fungus from spreading but the damage done is there.
2 gillningarnever heard of TIA but thank you for the offer. i'll just have to find some at my local store
1 gillaI think she meant TIA as in āthanks in advancedā - donāt want you to spend time searching for it in the store lol
2 gillningarI read an interesting bit of information recently. If you put piece of pothos cutting into a pot with another cutting it gives off a growth hormone that stimulates root development. The same thing for willow but you make some kind of a tea with the willow. I forgot exactly how you make the tea I know it involves boiling water.
4 gillningari've read the pothos thing too and i've tried it definitely helps
1 gillaAll cuttings will give off rooting hormones after a week or two. But then everyone says change the water weekly, kinda defeating the plants biology lol. Pothos generally excreted these hormones quicker and more abundantly that other plants. Hence the putting them in with hard to root plants vs using a rooting hormone
3 gillningarThe tea you are speaking of is made from boiling willow bark in water, which will then have salicylic acid in it; it is similar to aspirin, and has the same health properties. I think itās good for what ails the body!
1 gillaWolfen, do you recommend NOT changing the water in your prop pots? I do use a tiny bit of Prop Drops in with my props. TIA!
1 gillaI honestly almost never change mine unless until the get gunky. And use prop drops as well. But I also sanitize my props.
1 gillaare those brow dots 3-dimensional? can you scrape them off or is it a discoloration in the leaf?
1 gillai can scrape them off
0 gillningarSounds easy, peezy! Does that mean if I do that the ends of the cuttings wonāt get icky, you know that snotty gooey look? TIA!
0 gillningarif you can scrape them off it might be scale. scale is a bug so the plant would need to be pest-treated & kept away from other plants. that was my initial thought when i first saw the picture. itās been a while since i last commented tho, have you figured out the issue?
0 gillningarIf it is fungus neem isn't going to do anything for it. 1:3 peroxide: water dilution sprayed on or wiped on with a saturated cloth every 3 days. This could also be pest damage, especially if it's appearing quickly
2 gillningarThen why is the recommendation always to use NEEM, or a copper fungicide? Iāve been fighting with black spot for months, and now Iām using copper fungicide. What do you know about using hydrogen peroxide for black spot? Please spill the beans! TIAā¦
2 gillningarBecause people go gaga for neem. But it's not very efficient against much beyond spider mites amd soft bodied pests. Copper fungicide works fairly well on fungus, but it is limited on types it treats. I use peroxide dilution or physan-20 personally, if i suspect fungus or bacterial. As it's a more broad range fungicide.
2 gillningarThanks for the beans⦠I donāt know how you know so much, girl! Which treatment do you prefer, and why⦠the peroxide dilution or PHYSAN-20? PS. Iām pretty sure itās black black, but how do I know if itās fungus or bacterial? Youāre probably gonna say if itās black spot, itās fungal, right? Why am I having so much trouble beating this stuff? TIA!
0 gillningarI prefer physan 20, mostly because it's more broad spectrum, and covers bacterial. The biggest difference is bacterial is very fast. Like if you see something one day. And the next day it's worse and the day after that even more so. Most likely bac over fungal
1 gillaWell, I searched Amazon and found the following. Can you tell me which of these you prefer, and why? One thing I couldnāt find out, and that is if it is dangerous to use. They wouldnāt even give me any information about whether it was safe to use around pets or not. Do you know what the safety parameters are? TIA! PS. Those two look alike bottles looked like they were different products when I checked on Amazon; now I donāt know if they are or not.
1 gillaIf you scrap them off are they squishing, like it's a scale bug? Or powdery like a mold/ mildew/fungus?
2 gillningarit was kinda powdery but i just cleaned it again. i'm thinking it's some kind of mold. i had to cover the nodes with candle wax but there's roots growing so they should be okay for now
