I have this jade plant which i got from one of my neighbour but the leaves keeps on dropping. The soil is also thick as rock not sure if the soil is suppose to be that way. I can repot it but i an scared all leaves will fall off as they have become so delicate.
I would probably repot with a better draining soil and then you can get a better look at the roots. The new growth is looking a bit leggy so I’d try to move it to a brighter spot. It very well could lose more leaves in this process but I think it’d be best for it in the long run!

I agree with the comment above! Just go for it and repot. Any leaves that fall that still are healthy just set ontop of some lightly misted soil and they will make more baby jades😄

Falling leaves on a jade means something is not right. It could be the soil so I agree, I would replace with a chunkier mix. The leaves will grow back!

I had a 30 year old jade that became incredibly root-bound and practically cement-glued to the soil, and took it to my local nursery to have repotted. If that’s not an option for you, I would suggest soaking the soil in a mix of 1 part hydrogen peroxide, 2 parts water for 30 minutes to an hour, then use a bamboo skewer or chopsticks to gently loosen the roots from the soil. Even if you can’t reduce it completely to its roots, remove as much as you can, then rinse it under water and gently pat it dry with a paper towel before adding new, dry soil to the pot. Please avoid using miracle grow’s succulent mix, as it stays moist for too long and can quickly become a succulent killer in humid climates. My favorite brand for succulents is Espoma’s Organic Cactus and Succulent mix. I can find it at my local nursery and Ace Hardware, and it runs for about $5-7 where I live. Make sure the new pot (if you’re giving it a new pot. Clean and dry the current pot thoroughly if you plan on using it again, but try to get a new pot that’s at least 2 in larger in diameter than the previous pot if that’s your plan). Hope this helps!
1 me gusta As for the leaves that have fallen and any you might lose in the process, put them in a separate little pot with some fresh soil and let their stem tips callous before sticking them in any soil. They tend to form roots on their own if you leave them on soil, but once they do start forming air roots or regular roots, you can create a small, shallow hole with a toothpick or wooden skewer and add a few drops of water beneath the leaf that way, that way you form a hole to stick the roots into once they form, and help the roots form downward as they should become attracted to the water. Make sure the hole is deep enough that once water is added, it’s not initially touching the leaf until thicker roots start to form, not just air roots.
