Hello! My spider plant was so happy for a bit and kept growing but it was in an incredibly small pot that couldn’t hold water and so eventually stopped growing. I tried repotting it and think this was a mistake as it’s now lost so many leaves and I think the soil might be too wet. Any advice on what to do that won’t shock the plant even more? I attached an earlier picture too to show the difference that’s happened in one week.

Save that baby from that soil, I’d get some fresh soil (any really will work for a spider plant but an Airoid mix works well for drainage & oxygen) & rinse all the roots off so it can almost “start fresh”

this is fresh soil i had just repotted it in, would you recommend leaving it in water instead of the soil until I can get something better?

That might shock the plant more, I would just continuously mist the surface for 3-5 days and try to bring some moisture back into the soil. It just looks like it is suffering from overwatering even though I think it’s dehydrated

I live in a pretty humid area and the soil currently is pretty soaked, I was worrying the drainage might be an issue as it was still very wet even though I watered it over a week ago

I highly recommend a clear well draining pot inside of all your planters. If you need more holes just add some with a drill or a saudering iron.

The little pot was ideal. The plant looked healthy with good color and no dried or limped leaves. The current pot is too big. Check for root rot and dump all the soil. Cut the rot. Disinfect pot, roots, tools hands with hydrogen peroxide. Put it back in the original starter pot since the plant is damaged. Use well draining soil. Move it to bright light or under a grow light. Fertilize once a month. Water only when the soil dries out completely. The roots hold more water than typical plants. 🪴🍀
