   From pictures on the internet it looks like it might be scale, but I don’t have any experience with them in my plant collection or know how to get rid of them.

   Yes it's scale, my cyclamen has them too right now! I recommend that you remove all the leaves the have a lot of scales on them, like the one pictured. For the leaves that are left you can use a soft brush or a paper towel to try to wipe them off and get an many off the leaves and stems you can. Then neem oil once a week for 4-6 weeks
