Calathea help please! My calatheas don’t seem entirely happy with me. I’m getting the occasional yellow leaf from some of them. And multiple have leaves that are under formed and have really thin spots. And then one has what maybe looks like scorch on its leaves. The mix I use is soil+bark+perlite+peat They’re in a north facing window supplemented by grow lights. I try to let them dry out a bit but not too much. Some don’t ever dry out at all. I use a small amount of fertilizer every time I water and only distilled/filtered water Any and all help is appreciated!

    Try pulling back on the fertilizer til every other watering , even if diluted could be too much for their roots. Could also be humidity issue. Also if you’re not using distilled, could be minerals/chemicals from the tap. They picky divas, that’s for sure.

    Overall, your care sounds pretty good. One thing that stands out to me is the lighting. While calatheas don’t need direct sun, a north-facing window is often too dim to support healthy, consistent growth. Personally, I’ve never been a big fan of relying on grow lights long-term—I only use them during winter when natural light is really limited. If possible, I’d try moving them to a brighter location with gentle morning light. An east-facing window is usually ideal for calatheas and, in my experience, they tend to be much happier there.
