Hello friends! :) Hoping I can get some help with my honey locust tree. The leaves are turning yellow and falling off. I’ve tried leaving it outside for days to make sure it has enough sunlight. I’ve also been watering twice a week when the soil is dry on the top. I gave it some food, too. Any help is appreciated!

i’m not quite sure why the leaves are turning yellow, but just a heads up moving plants from indoor to outdoor can actually damage the leaves! when plants are indoors they are usually behind a window which blocks some of the uv rays from the sun, so when they are moved outside, those uvm rays can actually bleach the leaves making em die!

Honey Locusts naturally turn yellow in autumn. But, it could be getting too much water if you are watering right after the top soil dries. That large pot could still have lots more water through most of it. Check the roots. I recommend not growing this indoors or even in a pot. These trees get 50ft wide and from 80ft to 100ft tall. They are trees that need the seasons to grow well unlike tropical plants that can thrive indoors all year at constant temperatures. I recommend moving it outside to get full sun. Plant it in the ground if you have the space is the best option even though spring is the best time for planting. Keep the roots protected during cold weather if you can’t plant it. Beware the seed pods can easily create more trees like acacia, mimosa and catalpa trees. I own both a mimosa tree and a catalpa tree. They are immortals. 😁
