Hey! I’m hoping I could get advice with what could be wrong with these 2 types of aloe vera’s. One has started going purple in random places despite not being watered for ages. The other has been going purplely brown in the middle of each stems… any ideas? Cheers! :) 🪴

This purple is sun/heat stress. It’s more the yellowing at the inner part of the leaves by the crown and stem that are worrisome. I don’t know because I can’t see it in person but typically this lighter color in that location of the plant could be a sign of crown or stem rot. I would rule that out by checking the roots and bases of the stems. The leaves folding inward, also a major sign of stress. They are trying to shield themselves from the light while conserving as much energy and water as possible. Aloes can be watered once a week to every three weeks depending on the type of aloe and your environment.. location, soil mix, pot type etc. Leaves should feel firm and plump. When watering, I always check the weight of the pot and gently feel the leaves first. If they are thinning, the leaves are easily bent and the soil is dry, I water thoroughly (if I’m using a terracotta pot, sometimes I let the water run through 2 or 3 times). Try not to wait way too long as this causes weak roots that aren’t able to take up water and nutrients from the soil resulting in a sick plant. Consistent “infrequent” watering is important in the growing season. Good luck! They are lovely clusters 💚

Thank you so much for the advice! I have checked and they have root rot. All black roots at the bottom, so it’s time to prune!
