Multiple leaves on my palm that has been doing totally fine since I got it are yellowing 😭 it's under a grow light because the room it's in is not very well lit. What do I do? 😭 this is my den, I don't have another space.

Yellowed leaves on anything are often a sign of overwatering

Ok, thank you. I'm following this apps plan so I don't know how I could be over watering but I will maybe google a better schedule.

Will they turn green again or are they done for?

I have personally found that in some cases the app does advise watering too often. Best to poke a finger in there and feel if it’s dry yet.

They’ll usually green up if the problem is corrected. Worst case, they’ll die and hopefully be immediately replaced.

I hope this is the case.

i’ve never seen a yellow leaf turn back to green. i would cut any of them off to allow the plant to focus energy on new growth!

I’ll be curious what other opinions people may have. I’m very much still learning myself.

Have you seen any sign of insect pests?

This plant in particular has little worms in the dirt but my mom googled it and told me they were good for it.

I’d check for pests they are very prone to spider mites! Check on the undersides for very fine webbing… camera phone light helps to see as the spider mites themselves are sooooo small. Mine did the same thing last year - a ton of leaves went yellow (not overwatering but spider mites and I think underwatering) I chopped all the yellow it will never turn green again), treated it (I use a mixture of neem oil/dawn dish soap & a bit of rubbing alcohol) and almost gave up on it. This year it’s unbelievable how much growth…. I looked this morning and there’s 5 new fronds coming in! I never really follow the schedules for watering I usually just stick my finger in the soil, when pot is about 50-75% dry I’ll water from the top but also let it soak in the residual water for about 30 mins. Good luck!
