I’ve recently started growing some herbs in my kitchen. however i have gnats right now 😔 i’ve put diatomaceous earth in my other plants but i don’t know what to do about my herbs. they have some sprouts but i have to keep the soil most to finish the germination process for the other seeds. what should i do about the gnats in my herbs?

I’ve finally got my gnats to die down and it has been a couple months. I think a hydrogen peroxide wash might be too tough on germinating herbs, but I did buy mosquito dunks and make a tea out of it to water and mist. I also put Yellow sticky gnat catchers in each plant, and plug in ones. I also noticed you have your plants by a sink. I clean out my sink with hydrogen peroxide and scrub out any food debris everyday.

i also just bought bananas so i’m worried i’ll get more gnats from that 😂 because for whatever reason bananas attract gnats

Those are usually fruit flies on the bananas, not the fungus gnats. For the fruit flies put out a small dish of water and dish soap. They tend to be attracted to that, and are fairly easy to get rid of. Fungus gnats are much harder.

From what I know, the gnats won’t kill them, they are just annoying as heck

I like to put 5-7 drops of peppermint oil in a spray bottle full of water and a bit of alcohol and it helps me fight those pests!
